The Cairn Terrier is an active, gregarious, cheerful, intelligent little dog that can live quite comfortably in a variety of homes.

Cairns require training, nutritious food, and daily exercise to reach their potential. They are easily trained for basic manners, but recall of terriers off leash can be unreliable. Therefore, a fenced yard is recommended because it allows the owner peace of mind as well as providing a safe playground for the dog.

Cairns usually enjoy obedience training classes, and often learn the lessons quickly at dog school. Early socialization with people and other animals is always beneficial for any puppy, as good doggy manners will be appreciated throughout the dog’s life.

Dorlin is home of eleven Champion Cairn Terriers. While our focus is on health and temperament to produce long lived family companions - we do succeed in the show ring.

Doreen Linkletter has been a Cairn Terrier breeder since 1985, and is a member in good standing with the Cairn Terrier Club of Canada, the Rideau Terrier Club, the Canadian Kennel Club, the Ottawa Kennel Club and a past member and Instructor with the Bytown Dog Obedience Club.

Activities

Cairn Terriers enjoy many pastimes with their owners such as agility, long walks in the park, forest or cornfield:

Some Cairns like to swim and fetch, go for canoe rides, or catch crabs at the seashore.

Skara X Logo pups, 7 weeks old, July '08

On June 7, 2008, Dorlin Skarabairn and Whiffletree Napier's Logarithm (Logo) produced a huge litter of 10 puppies – six females and four males. We, Judy and Bruce, want to acknowledge our appreciation to Doctor Janet Lalonde of the Alexandria Veterinary Clinic for delivering the pups safely into the world, and to Margaret and Hugh Kinsley of Alamawa Kennels and Doreen Linkletter of Dorlin Kennels for having the wisdom to choose and breed the strong dogs from which our breeding stock descended.

Il nous fera un plaisir de communiquer avec vous en français.
